If anyone is looking for a free antivirus, I can confirm that AVAST works fine. Initially the program fails to install. Try again and it will still fail. After several times Vista will bite back to say that it will now run it in compatibility mode. The next time you try and run setup it works perfectly. Hope this helps.

AVAST Antivirus works
It never failed for me... worked the first time I installed. But I think so far it's the best AV for Vista. CA sucked and Trend does too IMHO (only becuase the firewall has no outbound protection unless you use ruls and you can do that with Vista's and it expires in Oct.)

If you download the actual version avast! 4.7 Home <http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html> it will smoothly install on Vista Beta 2 and automatically update.

As with any install of A/V programs-it is best to turn off any built in security before you install. Avast! runs in Vista mode and installs best if the UAC is turned off during installation. After it is installed you turn the UAC back on.

Yes, Works well. Sometimes it hold up loading, as it actively scan, but seems to be tightly integrated. Very well done!

I've installed Avast 4.7 on Vista beta2 from the Standard account without any problems (I put my other administrator account password in order to install it)

It looks like it installed on the first try for me, except for being unable to display messages on the "normal" desktop display **AND** a dialog which indicated:
Registry Hive (File) C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat was corrupted and it has been recovered. Some data might have been lost.
If this was a production system, I'd have doubts about the program....
