I have Avast antivirus, Win Defender, True Sword, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Hijack. I use them to scrum the system regularly. Only Explorer type tasks like opening My Computer and browsing files still work. If an application is already open, like Internet Explorer, it still operates normally.

Avast 4.7 or Symantec AV 10.1? McAffee vesion 8 works for me just fine. Avast! Pro 4.7 works super. I've been there done that with Norton Symantec & Networthless Associates McAfee.
